GAMCA / WAFID – Official GCC Medical Screening Service

The official representative for medical screening services in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain) is GAMCA, now officially known as WAFID (effective from January 15, 2023).

1. What is GAMCA / WAFID?

– GAMCA: Gulf Approved Medical Centers Association – the authorized body for GCC countries to conduct mandatory medical examinations before hiring foreign workers.
– WAFID: The new name introduced in 2023, offering the same services with upgraded electronic systems.

2. Medical Screening Service – How It Works

The medical examination is a mandatory requirement for applicants of work or residency visas in GCC countries. Without this medical clearance, visa applications will be rejected.

Tests typically include:
– Physical examination
– Blood tests (HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B/C, Syphilis)
– Chest X-ray (tuberculosis)
– Urine and stool tests (if needed).

Result categories:
– Fit (medically cleared)
– Unfit
– Pending.

Medical fitness certificate (FIT slip):
– Generally valid for 90 days, which is sufficient for visa application.

3. Steps for Visa Applications
  1. Register on the official GAMCA/WAFID portal.
    2. Enter personal details, passport information, and visa details.
    3. Pay the required fee online (credit card).
    4. Download or print the GCC medical slip.
    5. Visit the assigned approved medical center.
    6. The medical center uploads your test results directly to the GAMCA/WAFID system.
    7. If marked Fit, use the slip to apply for your visa.
4. How to Find GAMCA / WAFID Centers?

GAMCA/WAFID-approved medical centers are located in countries such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, and others.
In your country (e.g., Mogadishu), contact GCC embassies to find the nearest approved center.
Booking and payments are handled through the official portal or trusted agents like GAMCA Health or GAMCA India.

5. Required Documents

– Medical slip / GCC slip (printed or digital copy)
– Passport
– 4–5 passport-size photographs
– Visa documents (if required, e.g., Kuwait visa)
– Vaccination records (if applicable)
– Appointment confirmation from the approved center

6. Key Terms

– GAMCA – Gulf Approved Medical Centers Association
– WAFID – New name for GAMCA system (since 2023)
– Fit slip – Medical clearance certificate required for visa processing

7. Notes

Family members (children/spouses) may not need a full medical test. Always verify with the specific GCC country requirements.
If you already reside in a GCC country and plan to renew your visa, you might need a new medical test locally.
